Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
keepUp AI ("we", "us") is an interactive course that teaches AI engineering at keepupai.co. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can to run the course.
What we collect
- Account details when you sign up: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture. Sign-in is handled by Clerk.
- Learning progress: lessons and steps completed, XP, streaks and your daily goal. It is saved in your browser and, when you're signed in, in our database so it follows you across devices.
- Profile choices: the display name and avatar you pick, and whether you appear on the public leaderboard (you can hide yourself).
- Payment status: which plan you have and when it renews. Payments are processed by Polar; we never see or store your card details.
- Questions to Keepy, our AI tutor: your message, plus the lesson step, code and error you're working on, so it can answer. We count questions per day to apply limits (by account, or by a one-way hash of your IP address if you're not signed in). We don't keep chat transcripts.
- Usage analytics: which pages and lessons are used, so we can improve the course. This doesn't include what you type.
How we use it
- To run your account, save your progress and unlock what you've paid for.
- To answer your questions with Keepy and to keep usage fair.
- To show the leaderboard, if you choose to appear on it.
- To fix problems and improve lessons.
- To email you about your account or purchases.
- To send our newsletter: weekly AI engineering tips and keepUp AI news. Creating an account subscribes you, as the sign-up form says; every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your account.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it to train AI models.
Services that process data for us
- Clerk: sign-in and account security.
- Supabase: our database for progress, profiles and plan status.
- Polar: checkout, subscriptions, invoices and refunds.
- Groq and Google (Gemini): the AI models that generate Keepy's answers. They receive your question and the lesson context described above.
- Vercel and Render: hosting for the website and our API.
- PostHog: product analytics.
- beehiiv: sends our newsletter. It receives your email address when you create an account.
Each service only gets the data it needs for its job, under its own privacy and security terms.
Google sign-in
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture, and use them only to create and identify your keepUp AI account. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember your progress and settings (like sound on or off). Analytics may set its own cookie. Clearing your browser data removes what's stored locally.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and progress while your account exists. Daily question counts are short-lived usage records. Payment records are kept as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct, export or delete your data, or delete your account, at any time by emailing support@keepupai.co. Depending on where you live (for example the EU or UK), you may have further rights under laws like the GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), our database only accepts requests from our own server, and secret keys never reach your browser. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password if you sign in with email.
Children
keepUp AI isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you by email for important changes. Questions? Email support@keepupai.co.
