What Vibe Coding Is (and Isn't) · Lesson 1
6 minVibe Coding, Honestly
Goal: Explain what an AI coding tool does well, name three ways it fails, and describe why every change needs a review.
You describe it, AI writes it
In plain English
Vibe coding means building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI coding tool write the code. You act like a product owner and a reviewer: you decide what to build, the AI drafts how, and you check the result.
AI coding tools (for example Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Bolt, Lovable or Replit) can:
- create pages, buttons and forms from a description
- connect to services like sign-in or a database
- explain code and error messages in plain words
- suggest fixes when something breaks
In this course you'll build TinyTasks, a small task manager web app: people sign up, add tasks, tick them off, and can upgrade in a test-mode payment. You'll launch a first version at the end.
Quick check: In vibe coding, what's your main job?
